DILMORN - King Brandon Terend, speaking yesterday in Dilmorn before a rare public Counsel of Regents, announced an initiative to liberate the royal palace in Brelin, commonly known as Antüril's Castle. The pronouncement met with wildly enthusiastic applause from regents and attending citizens alike.

"Make no mistake," the King warned, "this will be a difficult campaign. It is one we must fight, for while the wards locking the castle are strong, they are not permanent. We must choose when to fight the evil that lurks within. We choose now."
King Brandon further elaborated that the planning would be extensive yet rapid, and ultimately each citizen would have a sacrifice to make time, money, or materials. Some, he said gravely, would be asked to sacrifice their lives to protect future generations.
"We will do this for our children. We will do this for ourselves. And we will do this for the souls of our mothers and fathers," the King said in closing.
King Brandon's father, King Vjal, died almost 400 years ago during the battle that sealed the castle.

Victory In Forkhaven
BRELIN - After nearly 30 years of occupation by the outlawed Karidran religious faction, Royal authorities have declared Forkhaven fully restored. While most aspects of life in the eastern Longwood city returned to normal several years ago, King Brandon refused to declare a victory until every area was secure and its citizens were able to enjoy their prior quality of life.
Prince Carlynn addressed reporters at a reception held at Brelin's Brinberry Inn. "My father, King Brandon, has little patience for hastily drawn conclusions, especially regarding a foe so ruthless and implacable. So while we have rebuilt and rehabilitated our lost families of Forkhaven, we have just as diligently rooted out the remains of their captors. We believe, now, our work is finished, but we will remain vigilant against new threats."
Prince Carlynn, now 18, declined to comment on questions of his own plans to marry and continue the Royal line.

Fugitive Captured
NORPORT - Convicted felon Travis Wilsod, aka Tannis Wyle, aka Timmon Welling, was captured last night near Timbrithel Manor in Norport.

Fugitive Travis Wilsod
Officials claim Wilsod, who escaped custody four years ago, was dazed and confused when apprehended, putting up no resistance and seeming almost relieved to be placed in custody. Already convicted of charges filed in Crossbunch and Fitch, Wilsod will be presented to the Magistrate of Melbeck for charges stemming from his time in Shady Cove.
Topbrick Clan Pushes City For New Contract
FITCH - Dwarven speaker Osarim Topbrick on Monday pushed his proposal before the City Council for a revision and extension of his clan's contract with the city of Fitch.
"We believe this proposal is fair and reflects our costs as we seek to upgrade the city infrastructure to match the workmanship of the Stoneteller clan twenty years ago."
Topbrick acknowledged that there's little wrong with what's already there, it just isn't on par with the new construction. More prestigious neighborhoods want their due, he speculated.
The Stoneteller Clan repaired the city water and sewer system over twenty years ago after a Grenneth Gem was lofted into a storm drain and exploded, leaving behind a crater some twenty meters across.

Quillbane In Production
KRIDLS FJORD - Dara Fitzpatrick, a speaker for technology firm Ulvicta, revealed distribution plans for the company's Quillbane product during that product's introduction on Tuesday at company headquarters in Kridls Fjord. The product is intended to combat exploding porcupines that have plagued the Cambridge area for the past several years.
"First shipments will go to Portage, of course, because that's where the infestation appears most frequently and in the greatest numbers," Fitzpatrick said. "When we've met demand there, we'll ship to the greater Cambridge area and points west, including Corleone. We hope to deploy to Brightwater and Kipbrister by Yule, and all other affected areas by Midsummer of next year."
Asked about the product's strong resemblance to a cast iron skillet, Fitzpatrick chuckled. "It's what worked," she said. "You all know of Sophy Miller, of Portage. We started with her best cooking skillet, because Sophy discovered she could vanquish the creatures with one good whack of that skillet. It was quite a puzzle, because it turns out that her skillet isn't in the least bit ordinary. But we finally figured it out, and we've managed to duplicate its effects, so we have a fine product to ship that should provide a lot of relief for those communities."
Fitzpatrick added that both Miller and the undisclosed inventor of Miller's skillet would be receiving handsome royalties.
