Why Didn't I Receive an EMail with my Registration Name and Serial Number?
With the incredible increase in spam these days, a number of ISPs are using filtering software to block unsoliticted junk email. Unfortunately these measures are not always as discriminating as they might be, and occasionally the automatic notice sent to you that contains your Registration Name and Serial Number will be blocked. If you do not receive such an email, please contact us using our online feedback form. Select Contact in the menu above, or just click here.
Where is the log file?
We used to not add a log file, but some folks were distressed by not finding it. We now place the log file in a folder called Logs in the Longwood Wizards Guild folder. We're flexible.
Should I report a bug?
Yes, please. Our resources are pretty limited so we can't guarantee when a bug will be fixed or if it will be fixed, but we are certainly striving to make our products as good as possible, so we'd like to hear about problems.
How do I report a bug?
Please use our online feedback form. Select Contact in the menu above, or just click here.
What information should I include with the bug?
It would be helpful to know:
- what you were doing or trying to do;
- what bad or unexpected thing happened;
- which OS you were running (MacOS 9, MacOS X, Windows 2000, Windows XP);
- which version of the OS you were running (9.1, 10.3.2, Service Pack 2, etc.)
- what kind of computer you were using; and,
- for users of MacOS 9, how much memory you have.
If a problem shows up as an alert with one or more cryptic numbers in parentheses, sending us such numbers (which pinpoint where the error is) would be very helpful.
Is there any documentation?
Yes. The built-in help system contains a lot of information about the game. Also, the Haniport Levee Manual (not yet available), is planned to be available from this site. We did not include a manual in the installer because it added a lot of size to the installer and didn't have a lot more to say than what was already in the help system.
What are Archives for?
Archives allow you to share interesting games with friends without sending along all your scores and statistics. They also allow you to easily send along several games at a time. But, the most interesting aspects of archives will be more evident once our second and third products are available for sale.
Known Issues
The one where pieces remain on the right side of the board after selecting Start Over (fixed in 1.0.1)
Oops. Turns out that if you use keyboad navigation to move a piece onto the board the move is not recorded in the undo list. Consequently it doesn't get undone when you start over. This can be avoided by always using the mouse to move pieces onto the board. If it does happen you can also reverse its effects by first selecting Start Over (or just click on the left griffon) followed by selecting each remaining piece on the board and using keyboard navigation to move it off the board. That should get things back to where they were.
The one where the Choose Difficulty submenu doesn't show the correct selection (fixed in 1.0.1)
When a Haniport Levee puzzle document is first opened, inspection of the Choose Difficulty menu may show nothing selected or may show the wrong thing selected. This doesn't affect game play, but may be confusing if you are trying to change the difficulty to something else. It seems to right itself if you make a couple of extra selections in that menu.
